The Slap heard around the World

What a good time for me to start my Blog. I mean what happened last night wasn't good but it gives me something to talk about for my first post! 

Sunday Night, the Oscars, the most Prestigious award show was being viewed by the World. We all want to see what our favorite actors are wearing, who they bring with them, and yes sometimes a little mishap here and there, but tonight's show! I think kept us all speechless for a good minute or two.

 Actor Comedian Chris Rock was the host of the awards show, and of course, being a comedian you take things that you see or hear of and you make a joke out of it. That is what comedy is about. Trying to make people laugh even at the expense of others. I never found Chris Rock to be funny. I think his humor is very dry.

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith were attendees of the show and as you know Jada has always worn her hair short. Why was this time so different? The subject was very touchy last night because Chris took a shot, trying to be funny about Jada’s hair. It wasn't anything so devastating that he said. He merely referenced her look to GI Jane. A film that came out in 1997, starring a shaved head Demi Moore. That really isn't the climax to this post. The climax is how Will Smith got up from his seat, walked up the stage, and slapped the crap out of Chris Rock! That is what happened! 

Now I have been watching News segments and looking at social media posts, and I’m seeing a 50/50 reaction. Some are saying he shouldn't have done that. Violence is never the answer, then there are others stating that they would have done the same thing if they were in his shoes.

 Here is my opinion: Chris Rock took a jab at Jada, not really knowing what this condition is doing to her mentally or even physically. As far as the slap, yes Will could have spoken to Chris after the awards and let him know that it was not okay to do what he did, but unfortunately, he didn't and now he will pay the consequences of his actions.

 I also think that maybe there is some built-up frustration in Will and last night just took him to his boiling point.
